I have searched high and low (Think Tank, Neewer, Lowepro) for a tough, lightweight, roomy camera bag that is not so intensely padded that it shrinks down to almost half the actual size of the bag itself! Most of all I needed a bag I can travel with and if you cinch down the side straps and don't overstuff it on top then fits perfectly within the airline carry on restriction (at least for United) of 9x14x17. Most of the bags I tried claimed to meet airline carry on requirements but when measured they never included the heavily padded backpack straps and/or built-in wheeled handle in the back which adds about 1-2 inches sometimes in width, and no way would fit in the overhead bin. I usually take an actual camera case and so probably won't use the removeable insert bag, but it's a nice option to have so you can take it out in emergencies and put under the seat in front of you if there is no room in the overhead bin. I can fit a 500mm lens in a Think Tank holster, a smaller camera case with a Coolpix P1000 and also an extra 80-400 lens (again this is without the removeable insert bag). Anyway, pleased my quest has finally ended for the perfect bag for both car and air travel!
