I used this dock to connect two 4k screens. It worked where a lenovo dock that's supposed to support dual 4k screens didn't. First rate. My only complaint is that the audio interface wants to take precedence over a bluetooth speaker. I should be able to lock that in the system preferences, but otherwise it's perfect. FYI I'm using this with a Lenovo P15 running Ubuntu Linux, and connected to my local network. I have usb keyboard and trackball, webcam and microphone installed. I needed the extra USB ports and it's nice that everything works.Plug-n-play… simple. Works great with my HP ZBook laptop.I use this to plug in 2 hdmi monitors to create a work station. Just wish the power cord was longer. This is my second try at a docking station. My demands aren't particularly great. I have a 4K laptop and two old 1280x1024 monitors to give me a bit of working space. All my ports are 3.1, regular speed (5Gb), both USB-A and USB-C. I don't do gaming or anything demanding -- just a ton of office-type work with lots of windows open.My first attempt (not the docking station I'm reviewing here): a Targus DOCK160USZ, which I bought from a major brick-and-mortar competitor for somewhat more than I would have paid on Amazon. (I bought it there because I had a store credit to use up.) This unit and the VisionTek have similar specs: 2 external 4K monitors at 60 Hz refresh, 1 Gb ethernet, 3.0 USB, sound. Even under light demand, the Targus sometimes produced blocky lines on the external monitors. The worst part was the Ethernet, which would only support about 2 Mb/s download, which is 1/500 of its rated speed -- insufficient to do much of anything on the Internet. After a lot of debugging, I ruled out everything but the hub. I suspect the unit is defective - no fault of the retailer, of course. I've seen favorable reviews for the Targus.Second try: VisionTek VT4000. I unplugged all the cables from the Targus and plugged them into the VisionTek. After about 15 sec of PnP port configuration, everything worked. Everything. I still installed the drivers on the enclosed CD, which also had good instructions on PDF files. (The Targus only came with a tiny piece of paper with tiny print and mostly universal symbols telling me pretty obvious stuff. They honestly didn't need to kill a twig to print it.) I threw up three videos on the three monitors, while moving the mouse and dragging windows all over the extended desktop. No stuttering or skipping or blocky artifacts. Then again, I'm hardly running 4K monitors, so I wouldn't expect any trouble. Next test was the ethernet. I disconnected from the WiFi I had been using and ran Ookla. Download was 120 Mb/s, and upload was 10, which is really all that's available to me in my location. It certainly exceeded 100 Mb, so it was running successfully at the 1Gb spec -- and about 60 times faster than the Targus.Problem solved. Yay! The Targus goes back to the store. This effectively replaces the old larger docking stations for previous laptops and I was able to hook up my two large computer screens and a Wireless keyboard/mouse with no issues. The largest issue it has vs previous docking station is that it doesn’t charge the laptop when connected so you will have to also plug your laptop in and then connect the C chord in order to use displays and charge laptop at the same time. Hopefully they can figure out a way in the future. Positives : Smaller, easy set up, works with any C connected Laptop. Negatives : Pricey, does no not charge laptop, no VGA option, limited to two displays.Received my super duper Dell laptop, had 2 new 24” displays. Ordered to VT4000 docking station to drive the displays and have more USB 3.x ports!!!I ordered 3 DisplayPort cables ( I always order a spare cable). I opened the box and saw a set-up CD?; do new (thin) laptops even have CD readers anymore?I power the laptop, monitors and docking station and laptop was fine and the monitors powered on, but nothing from the laptop to the monitors. Nothing in the instructions had a URL for the install files. I went to the VisionTek site and chatted with “D” who told me to load drivers and reboot and I could then configure the monitors. I did this and there was NO DIFFERENCE. Since I rebooted, “D” was not there, but I spoke to “J”. He asked if I see both monitors on the Display setting page (WIN 10), there were NONE seen. I was asked to wait. While the wait continued, I swapped a DisplayPort cable with one I had (not the one ordered here), no change. I continued to wait then found 2-HDMI cables and swapped the DP with HDMI, and OH BOY BOTH MONITORS WORKED (seems as though the VT4000 doesn’t really support DP (there are 2-DP and 2-HDMI ports. So, I was able to get it to work for me, but gave only 1 star for the Tech Support as they gave me no indication that they were really Technical (basic WIN10 right click on a blank area and the URL). I gave the Product 2 stars, the additional star was for MY troubleshooting I gave the Value 3 stars because now that I have it working, there are ample USB ports! After receiving two Dell display link units which both burnt out after around 4 days of use between the two them , I decide to try again. After reading reviews and taking some suggestions from forums etc.. I decided to try this vision Tek display link to boost my laptops ability to display higher resolution to a second monitor. Once unboxed and I had chosen the proper usb cable for my system I plugged it in and was surprised to see that the drives download effortlessly and everything was plug and play!!! the unit runs relatively cool and doesn't seem to bog down the laptops processor as the other units did!Beware if you if you use hardware acceleration in programs like Photo Shop etc.. it will not be available unless you plan to use one of your laptops HDMI port to engage the graphics processor so that the program can detect it.Overall super excited that this seems to be the solution to my problem!!Works great easy to set up
