This McKlein Morgan briefcase strikes me as very well designed and manufactured. I include a photo of the inside layout of pockets and sections. The interior blue lining was a surprise, but very elegant and will make it easier to find small items against the color. It opens easily, stands open on its own, and is not quite as heavy as I expected from other reviews. It has about the same heft as my 30-year old Atlas trial bag that tore a seam in the last 3 years. This McKlein Morgan, though, is designed to carry & protect a laptop and has more pockets inside for pens, business cards, calculator, phone, files, etc. I doubt I’ll use the shoulder strap, but it’s nice to have just in case. I likely will get 2 of the reviewer-recommended quick links that screw closed, just in case. In any event, I’m very pleased with this briefcase, which drop shipped to me from the manufacturer in Illinois although it may have been manufactured elsewhere. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Enjoy. It really is a great bag. It replaced my prior satchel briefcase, which I carried for over *20* years. After a month of use I can say this is a worthy successor, which says good things about it.What others say about the strap is true - it does have a tendency to unclip itself and detach upon lifting when the case is loaded. It seems to be caused by both the wideness of the strap clip plus the clip opening being too low (spring carabiner style.) The clip gate strikes the round attachment retainer and slips off the retainer, leaving you with an unclipped strap.Anyway, if you narrow the round retainer's hole diameter it won't be able to detach. I did this by clipping the strap clips from my old case (minus strap) on the retainer in addition to the new strap and clips. You could use a carabiner of an appropriate size and it fixes the problem. Still a design flaw, but once worked around it is great.I have a 15" laptop, and the center compartment holds this and the adapter quite nicely. I don't know if I'd want to carry around a 17" and all my usual stuff. But with a 15 incher, I can carry everything I used to split across two different cases. That includes my MP3 player, a screwdriver and bit set, a Sony Reader, a pen and highlighter (there is a pen loop on the outside of the case - a nice touch!) and all sorts of other miscellaneous bric-a-brac.I'm really pleased with the quality-for-price value. A worthy successor to my old case which had become like a friend.UPDATED: After a year and a half of daily hard use... The briefcase is still holding up pretty well. It's had a few bumps, and the surface finish on the seams does get scraped/scratched a little more easily than I'd like. But it's still hanging in there. One thing that didn't: The carabiner idea worked moderately OK, but these days I'm not using it with a strap. A threaded shackle is the way to go. Still love it, though, and still a worthy successor a year and a half later.NEW UPDATE: Now five and a half years later. Still using it on a daily basis, overloading it with heavy use to and from work and elsewhere. One thing has failed: One of the four bolts holding in the hand straps to the case came undone in the second year of use. I think it just unscrewed with usage, and if I'd put it back in play with a little epoxy or loctite it may have held. But I unscrewed all four bolts and slightly widened the holes (removing the threading from the old screws.) Then I took threaded steel rod, cut to size, and used good looking nylon end locking nuts, coating the rod threads with epoxy as I attached them. This case frequently takes between ten and fifteen pounds of stuff wherever I need it to be. The top lock, hinges, etc. are still in excellent working condition and I depend on this bag to this day. Cheap construction, my ass. This thing is a TANK! And one that still looks pretty damn good for coming up on six years of HEAVY daily use.I would like to see the Country of Origin included in all product descriptions. Obviously, in this case [no pun intended] the company's name, McKleinUSA, has no relevance to the country of origin. With Thailand displayed rather predominantly on the box, my mistake was immediately noticeable. But it was too late by then to go through a return and replace process as these were gifts which were needed within two weeks of their arrival. It is much too soon to comment on the significant factor of longevity. I can say that the briefcase presents well right out of the box. The leather feels good, smells good and looks nice. It has a substantial feel to it. The recipients seemed pleased with it.But, I had wanted a product made in America. Research prior to purchase had suggested that hides from some regions of the world might reflect the poorer diet and care that the cattle received in other countries. I wanted to give these graduates a quality gift that would last them for years to come in addition to enhancing a professional appearance. And for all I know at this point in time, maybe this briefcase will do that. I'm just a little less confident than I would be if this were really a made in America product. All I can say for now is that it looks good. Of all the zillions of briefcases I looked at online, I kept coming back to this one. For a brief case that doubles as a laptop bag, it offers a less bulky appearance and yet is quite roomy inside, no easy trick. The hardware looks like it's up to the job of carrying the kind of weight that could accumulate with a laptop, files, etc.I did note the comments regarding the shoulder strap, but I am pretty sure these guys aren't going to use the shoulder strap. If they do and it's problematic, I'm sure our shoe repairman can replace the clips. If that's the worst problem that arises, it's easily fixed and these were still a good value.Very well designed office bag at a reasonable price. Durable and spacious. It is a copycat of what I saw on the picture. Very happy for buying this bag for work.Very happy with this bag. Better than I was expecting. My husband has been looking for a case for over a year now and couldn't find what he felt would cover all his ideas on the perfect bag for him.His old case finally was just too far gone and needed to get something even if it might be a compromise. We found this online and it really seemed to have everything he wanted but as we had never bought this type of thing online before we were afraid of what kind of quality it would end up being. It has been more than he hoped for by far.He doesn't use the shoulder strap at all and was a bit worried about the side attachments getting in the way but no problem at all. There were comments about the weight and he says it isn't any heavier than any bag of this style and quality. The roomy pockets hold all he needs to carry and more. He finds the inside zipper pocket very convenient to store important documents. He has been using it steady for nearly a month and no problems. In short he loves it!Durable y buena calidadI’m sure for someone this is a great briefcase. For me, it felt a little cheap and just wasn’t what I expected. Had to return itUtilisée pour le travail - malette de bonne qualité
